Description

Join us for our Bitcoin channels meetup where we go beyond the buzzwords and look at real-world use cases for off-chain payment protocols across the blockchain network. In what promises to be a fascinating evening, we will discover how developers are solving issues surrounding some of blockchain’s most pressing problems including latency and throughput.

Not only will you get to hear first-hand from an industry-leading expert on off-chain solutions but you will also have the opportunity to make valuable new connections with other developers and entrepreneurs working in the blockchain space.

Bitcoin channels is an unmissable event that could prove key in unlocking blockchain payments protocols’ true potential as the future of transactions.

Improving off-chain payment protocols

Blockchain payments systems could transform the ways in which we transact forever. But users and developers alike have become increasingly frustrated with high latency across networks, leading developers to look for off-chain solutions to improve transaction speeds and increase throughput.

One such solution is Teechain, an off-chain payments protocol developed, in part, by our special guest speaker, Joshua Lind. It is the first network that assumes asynchronous access to the blockchain, instantly establishing payment channels. While current methods can only process 1,000 transactions per second, Teechain can handle over 30,000, with just a 0.3-second latency.

In his presentation to the Bitcoin сhannels ьeetup, Joshua will talk us through his experiences in developing Teechain as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
About the speaker
Primary author, developer and lead for the Teechain network, Joshua Lind is a PhD student in the Large-Scale Data and Systems Group at Imperial College London. His research focuses on improving the security, privacy and performance of distributed systems, such as blockchains and cryptocurrencies.
