Protecting data and chain

As Bitcoin’s dominance declines and competition from altcoins rises, the need for ‘cross-chain' applications (based on proof-of-work) has increased. The ability to make logical transactions spanning several blockchains is required to expand opportunities.

Using sidechains has been considered a possible solution to scalability, thanks to its ability to off-load work from the network. As is common with development, security concerns of the protocol are holding implementation back.

How can this concept be introduced without compromising security?

Crossing the Blockchain

When it comes to widespread implementation of sidechains, constructing secure, efficient cross-chain transfers in a decentralised way may address some of the questions surrounding interpolarity and security.

Based on a new cryptographic primitive, ‘Non-Interactive Proofs of Proof-of-Work', we will learn what conditions are required to make such sidechains and how they can be enacted.

Dionysis Zindros will introduce this model, which allows verification without whole blockchain processing and is protected from attacks thanks to its non-interactive properties.
About the speaker
Dionysis Zindros is a cryptography PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Athens. As well as his work on ‘Non-Interactive Proofs of Proof-of-Work', he has recently presented and written about breach attacks. His other interests include applied cryptography, compression security and anonymity.
