Data analytics in the age of transformation

Product managers have come to rely on insights from the wealth of data they collect to better understand their audience, uncover new efficiencies and mitigate risk.

They are, however, working in a world increasingly hostile to big data. The Cambridge Analytica scandal reignited the debate around data privacy, provoking public outrage around the issue on a scale previously unseen. The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also came into effect on May 25, creating serious restrictions around the collection and use of customer data.

The potential of big data is, however, still tremendous. These challenges, while daunting, actually present new opportunities to those who seek them. We are also seeing new technologies, new strategies, and a increasingly strong pipeline of talent emerging to help drive organisations into the higher stages of maturity in the data efforts, and this is bearing fruit through greater profit.
